The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has officially terminated *83% of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) programs, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on X.

According to Rubio, after a six-week review, 5,200 contracts were canceled, as billions of dollars had been spent *against U.S. interests* and, in some cases, even harmed the country.

The remaining *approximately 1,000 programs will now be managed by the U.S. Department of State.

Rubio also thanked the U.S. Government Efficiency Agency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, for its role in implementing the reform.

Earlier, on *February 26, the Trump administration announced plans to cancel 92% of USAID and State Department foreign aid contracts, aiming to save around $60 billion from the federal budget. On February 3, at Musk’s initiative, USAID operations were suspended.
