Hungary is ready to share its expertise and technology with Kazakhstan for the construction of the country's first nuclear power plant. This was stated by Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó at a press conference in Astana following negotiations with Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Murat Nurtleu.

"Kazakhstan has decided to build a nuclear power plant. I believe that our technology and experience in nuclear energy will be suitable for our Kazakh partners," Szijjártó said.

The meeting also covered cooperation with the Hungarian company MOL in developing new oil fields in Kazakhstan. Additionally, Hungarian companies are actively involved in modernizing the country’s agriculture sector and plan to open new enterprises worth $5 million in the near future.

Speaking about the pharmaceutical industry, Szijjártó highlighted that Hungarian company Gedeon Richter is the ninth-largest pharmaceutical producer in Kazakhstan, manufacturing not only medicines but also other medical technologies.

It was also announced that a direct flight from Budapest to Shymkent will be launched in May 2025.
