The International Defense Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) 2025, held from February 17 to 21 in Abu Dhabi, became a true hub for innovation in the defense sector, attracting leading experts, engineers, and manufacturers from around the world. This major event brought together the most advanced developments in land, naval, and air technologies, marking an important moment for strengthening international defense relations and showcasing progress in security.

IDEX 2025 covered 17 key sectors of the defense industry, including land and air vehicles, unmanned systems, navigation and radar systems, as well as command and control systems. Special attention was given to innovations in weapons, personal equipment, electronic warfare, and security equipment, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and autonomous solutions for various defense sectors.

For the first time, the exhibition featured sectors dedicated to humanitarian assistance and space defense, reflecting the growing importance of these areas in the modern world

Under the patronage of UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the event gathered 1,565 companies from 65 countries, an increase of 16% compared to 2023.

The total exhibition area exceeded 181,500 square meters, providing participants with ample space to showcase their achievements. Companies such as Saab, Havztez Defense, KNDS, Flaris, EDGE, GIDS, and others presented their latest developments and advancements.

 

For example, Saab unveiled a new radar developed in the UAE, designed to ensure security during coastal patrols. Uzbek company Havztez Defense presented new armored personnel carriers, offering alternatives in the armored vehicle market. French company KNDS introduced the MATARIS family of kamikaze drones, designed for various operational ranges. Polish company Flaris showcased an updated prototype of its jet UAV Sinyar LAR3P, intended for reconnaissance and strike missions.

Turkey, which has established itself as a leader in UAV production, presented its latest models at Abu Dhabi, such as Bayraktar TB2, Anka, and Aksungur. These UAVs have already demonstrated their effectiveness in real military operations. Additionally, advanced air defense systems such as Hisar and Siper were showcased at IDEX 2025.

These systems provide protection against missiles and aircraft at long distances, playing a crucial role in the national security of Turkey and its allies.

Furthermore, at IDEX 2025, Turkey presented Altay—the main battle tank, combining power, maneuverability, and modern weaponry, as well as products in the naval defense sector, including the latest missile systems and equipment designed to protect coastal areas and maritime routes.

Among the participants presenting their achievements, Azerbaijan held a prominent place. Each year, the country continues to strengthen its position on the international stage, actively developing innovative defense technologies and systems. IDEX 2025 became an important step in showcasing Azerbaijan's progress in defense, security, and technology.

 

Azerbaijan has extensive experience participating in major international exhibitions like IDEX and always attracts attention with the high level of its military solutions and technologies. The country actively invests in the modernization of its armed forces, UAV development, communication and reconnaissance systems, as well as the creation of new armored vehicle models.

In recent years, Azerbaijan has made significant progress in the development and production of UAVs, which have already demonstrated their effectiveness in real combat conditions.

At IDEX 2025, new drone models were presented, which will be used not only for reconnaissance but also for conducting strike operations. Additionally, Azerbaijan is actively modernizing its artillery and missile systems, ensuring their high precision and long-range capabilities.

The exhibition showcased the latest artillery models, which provide high levels of protection and effective enemy defeat at long distances.

Moreover, Azerbaijan continues to develop armored personnel carriers and infantry fighting vehicles, combining high mobility, protection, and firepower.

New vehicles were also demonstrated, featuring the best mobility and protection characteristics, as well as automated fire control systems. In modern warfare, cybersecurity and command management systems play an important role. Azerbaijan is already implementing solutions to effectively protect data and manage combat units in the context of complex information warfare. Within IDEX 2025, new developments in information technology for defense were presented.
