Joint actions by Israel and the United States under President Donald Trump have set back Iran’s nuclear ambitions, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said at a joint press conference with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in Baku.

According to Saar, these measures have also contributed to increased security in the region. He emphasized that Israel is firmly opposed to Iran possessing any weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear weapons.

“Israel and Azerbaijan are countries committed to peace. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, our ties have significantly expanded and deepened across many areas. The opening of the Azerbaijani embassy in Israel three years ago was an important step that further strengthened our strategic partnership,” Saar stated.

The Israeli foreign minister also congratulated Azerbaijan on the progress in normalizing relations with Armenia, achieved with the mediation of US President Donald Trump. He stressed that these results were made possible by the balanced domestic and foreign policy of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. “Without the wise policies of President Ilham Aliyev, there would be no peace in the region,” Saar noted.

He also highlighted the visible achievements of Azerbaijan in its development and prosperity, emphasizing that the Jewish community in Azerbaijan lives in stability and security. The minister added that the people of Israel highly value this support.
