Cargo traffic along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TMTM, "Middle Corridor") increased by 62% in 2024, reaching 4.5 million tons. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Alikhan Bektanov, during a meeting with the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, as reported by the press service of the Kazakh government.
The meeting focused on enhancing transit and transportation cooperation by unlocking the potential of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. The measures being implemented are expected to increase the route's capacity to 10 million tons per year by 2027. The parties emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to establish competitive tariff conditions, reduce delivery times, and increase cargo volumes along the route.
Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Bektanov stated:
— Last year, cargo volumes along the TMTM increased by 62%, reaching 4.5 million tons. To further enhance the potential of the route and eliminate "bottlenecks," we are working to improve infrastructure, port and terminal capacities, increase rolling stock, remove administrative barriers, and create favorable conditions for carriers. The Kazakh government is committed to continuing its comprehensive efforts to ensure the dynamic development of Kazakh-Georgian partnership in all areas.
