On Wednesday, Ali Akbar Ahmadian, the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, arrived in Baku, Azerbaijan, for "political and security discussions."
According to Iranian media, the purpose of Ahmadian's visit is to "enhance security and political ties" with countries in the South Caucasus region and to address regional peace issues.
During his time in Baku, the Iranian official will meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. Afterward, he is scheduled to visit Armenia, where he will hold talks with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
