Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov in Beijing on Wednesday, reaffirming China’s commitment to deepening mutually beneficial cooperation under the framework of the high-quality Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
Xi Jinping noted that in recent years, bilateral relations have advanced rapidly, reaching the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership in the new era. He emphasized China’s support for Kyrgyzstan’s independent development path and expressed readiness to enhance cooperation in strategic planning and governance.
The Chinese leader highlighted the importance of expanding trade, economic, and investment ties, increasing imports of high-quality Kyrgyz products, and encouraging more Chinese enterprises to invest in Kyrgyzstan. He also called for ensuring the protection of Chinese investors' legal rights and interests.
Infrastructure development was a key topic of discussion, particularly the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, modernization of border checkpoints, and the launch of new passenger and cargo routes. Additionally, both sides explored opportunities for collaboration in e-commerce, big data, and artificial intelligence.
President Sadyr Japarov expressed his appreciation for visiting China at the beginning of the Lunar New Year and extended his best wishes to the Chinese people. He praised China’s achievements in modernization while preserving its rich cultural heritage, stating Kyrgyzstan's interest in learning from China's successful development model.
Japarov reaffirmed Kyrgyzstan’s support for China on issues related to Taiwan, Xinjiang, and Hong Kong. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening high-quality cooperation within the Belt and Road Initiative, ensuring the success of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, and fostering partnerships in industry, trade, transport, and education.
The two leaders agreed to enhance cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the China-Central Asia mechanism, while also working together on China's Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative.
Following the talks, Xi and Japarov signed a joint statement on deepening the China-Kyrgyzstan comprehensive strategic partnership, along with a series of cooperation agreements covering diplomacy, economy, trade, and agriculture.
Before the negotiations, Xi Jinping and his wife, Peng Liyuan, held an official welcome ceremony for Sadyr Japarov and his wife, Aigul Japarova. A state banquet was hosted at noon in honor of the Kyrgyz delegation.
