President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif signed a joint declaration following the first meeting of the Supreme Council of Strategic Cooperation. The announcement was made by the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.

The talks were held in Islamabad and concluded with the signing of a comprehensive package of bilateral documents aimed at deepening the strategic partnership and expanding multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.

Among the key documents signed were a cooperation program between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs for 2026–2028, agreements on the establishment of a Business Council and an Interregional Forum, as well as a protocol expanding the list of goods under the Preferential Trade Agreement.

A separate set of agreements covers priority sectors, including port services, mining, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, textile and garment industries, digital technologies, culture, sports, and environmental protection. The sides also signed documents on cooperation in radiation and nuclear safety, anti-corruption efforts, and combating illicit drug trafficking.

Additional agreements include the exchange of phytosanitary requirements to facilitate exports of Uzbek agricultural products to Pakistan, a defense cooperation roadmap between the two countries’ ministries of defense, and partnership agreements between universities and expert institutions.

Earlier, Mirziyoyev and Sharif discussed expanding economic cooperation, particularly in transport and logistics projects, with the goal of increasing bilateral trade to $2 billion. According to official data, trade turnover between the two countries reached nearly $500 million in 2025, with around 230 joint ventures currently operating.

The parties also formed a project portfolio worth nearly $3.5 billion in agriculture, industry, and pharmaceuticals. President Mirziyoyev invited Prime Minister Sharif to pay a return visit to Uzbekistan.
