Uzbekistan has proposed launching pilot transportation routes across the territories of member countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) to pave the way for the implementation of the Simplified Customs Corridor Agreement.

This initiative was presented by Akmalkhuja Mavlonov, Chairman of the Customs Committee under Uzbekistan's Ministry of Economy and Finance, during the 10th Meeting of Heads of Customs Administrations of OTS, held in Baku.

“I suggest starting pilot transportation projects along several routes through our countries to advance the implementation of the Simplified Customs Corridor Agreement. By utilizing existing bilateral information exchange systems, we can help our entrepreneurs experience the tangible benefits of this agreement,” Mavlonov stated.

He also highlighted Uzbekistan’s support for Azerbaijan’s Trans-Caspian Customs Transit portal: “We propose expediting the establishment of a legal framework for the transit portal's use. Additionally, it is essential to explore creating a unified system for calculating border fees, providing notifications on non-tariff regulations, and implementing guarantees within the portal.”
