President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed a document in Davos on Azerbaijan’s accession to the Board of Peace as a founding member state.
The signing ceremony was attended by US President Donald Trump, along with leaders of countries that accepted his invitation to join the Board of Peace initiative.
Speaking at the ceremony marking the signing of the Board of Peace Charter, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that many more world leaders and countries are expected to join the initiative.
“Many leaders have already joined, while others will complete their internal procedures and also become part of the Board of Peace. This will be a successful initiative, and many more countries will join,” Rubio said.
He noted that some leaders were unable to attend the ceremony due to the need to comply with constitutional requirements in their countries. Nevertheless, Rubio expressed confidence that participation in the Board of Peace would continue to expand, as many states are interested in becoming part of the initiative and are awaiting its successful outcome.
